Sonoran Dark Skies

Larry Phillips' Images of the Night Sky

Star clusters come in two catagories - Open and Globular. Open clusters are loose associations of a relative small number of stars and are usually located within the neighborhood of the plane of our galaxy. Globular clusters surround our galaxy in a cloud outside of the plane where most stars reside. They are much tighter associations of stars and much further away.
