Rosette Nebula in the constellation Monoceros

Cataloged as NGC 2237

Emission and/or reflection nebula with an open cluster (NGC 2244) at its center. This is a vast cloud of dust and gas extending over an area of more than 1 degree across, or about 5 times the area covered by the full moon. This image only shows the central most portion and is better imaged with a shorter focal length telescope or a mosaic of several images.

Images: 10 luminance @ 5 minutes each, 10 red @ 5 minutes each, 10 Green
                @ 5 minutes each, 10 Blue @ 5 minutes each for a total exposure time of
                200 minutes.
